2024 Events

River Valley Recovers Strong

-Street Dance / Block Party-

Held at LLRC, the River Valley Recovers Strong Street Dance/Block Party on August 24, 2024, was an incredible success for both us and the community! With well over 100 people attending, the event exceeded all expectations.

Families, friends, and community members all came together to enjoy a fun-filled evening, which featured a free community BBQ as part of the celebration.

The event featured face painting, chalk drawing, and opportunities for both kids and adults to showcase their artistic skills. There was also a chance for attendees to sing their hearts out with karaoke or request songs to be played, all thanks to the fantastic music provided by Moon-Star DJ & Karaoke Services.

4 J's BBQ food truck was on-site, offering up delicious food to add to the festivities.

It was a night of laughter, dancing, and great company, truly celebrating recovery, resilience, and the strength of our local community. We can’t wait to host many more events like this in the future!

T.W. Kelly Dirigo Middle School

-Open House-

On September 5th, LLRC staff had the opportunity to attend the T.W. Kelly Middle School Open House, where we connected with parents, students, and school staff to share more about the important work we do with the student community. We set up an informational table and had meaningful conversations with attendees about the Student Recovery Coaching Program we provide at the school.

During the event, we explained how our recovery coaching sessions work and how these meetings support students in navigating their challenges while fostering positive growth. The open house was a great chance for us to introduce LLRC’s ongoing efforts to support students in their recovery journey, promote mental health, and create a supportive environment right at their school.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with T.W. Kelly Middle School and supporting students throughout the school year.

Recovery Outing Event

-Family Fun Day-

On August 3rd, LLRC proudly hosted the Family Fun Day as part of the Recovery Outings Series organized by The Western Maine Addiction Recovery Initiative.

Held at 3 Fields in Rumford, the day brought together families from across the community for an afternoon filled with fun, connection, and support. We were thrilled to see over 100 people come out to enjoy the event!

The event offered a wide range of activities for everyone. Families enjoyed face painting, a bounce house for the kids, a cookout, yard games, and lively music that kept the energy going all day. It was a day of joy, laughter, and togetherness, showing that recovery and family fun can go hand in hand.

The event was completely free of charge and was made possible thanks to the support of MaineWest, who helped fund the day's activities.

LLRC
4th Annual Golf Tournament

The Larry Labonte Recovery Center (LLRC) proudly hosted its 4th Annual Golf Scramble Fundraiser at The Bethel Resort & Suites.

We had an amazing turnout, with a full roster of 18 teams and a total of 72 players joining us for a fun day on the greens in support of the recovery community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity and participation of our players, sponsors, and supporters, this year’s fundraiser was a great success! The funds raised will go directly toward furthering our mission of supporting individuals in recovery and providing essential resources to the community.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this year’s event such a success, and we look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s tournament!

ME-RAP Listening Session

-Amplifying Voices for Recovery-

The Maine Recovery Advocacy Project (ME-RAP) is dedicated to shaping and influencing recovery-friendly policies and laws, empowering individuals in recovery to advocate for meaningful change.

On June 26th, LLRC hosted the ME-RAP Listening Session, where around 30 community members gathered to ensure their voices were heard.

During the session, participants engaged in thoughtful discussions, shared personal stories, and explored ways to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for recovery in Maine.

We’re proud to have partnered with ME-RAP for this powerful session, continuing our commitment to driving positive change in our community.

Bethel Pride

On June 20th, LLRC was proud to attend Bethel Pride, an event that celebrates acceptance, inclusion, and diversity for all. As a voice for those in recovery, we set up a resource table to offer information, support, and tools to the community.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with individuals and let them know that recovery resources are available for everyone, no matter where they are in their journey. We were honored to be part of this uplifting event that promotes love, unity, and support for all.

Paint Night

We had an amazing time at our Paint Night event!

Thank you to Katrina from Crooked River Rumford for sponsoring, and Beta Street Studio/Creative Canvas Paint Parties & Art, especially Judy Surette Taylor for your fantastic guidance. And a special thanks to everyone who participated. 🎨✨

Our Paint Night on May 11th was a wonderful evening of creativity and relaxation at the Larry Labonte Recovery Center.

🌟 Participants unleashed their inner artists, filling the room with colorful palettes and good vibes. 🖌️🌙 We had a great turnout, with everyone, from seasoned painters to those just looking to unwind with friends, coming together to let their imaginations soar.

Vision Board Making

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent vision board-making event at the Larry Labonte Recovery Center!

On April 27th, The event began with a calming meditation session, which helped everyone center their minds and focus before diving into the creative process. This mindfulness practice sets a peaceful and reflective tone, preparing participants to think deeply about their future goals and aspirations before creating their vision boards.

With an incredible turnout of around 15 wonderful community members, the day was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to express their dreams while connecting with others in a supportive environment. We were truly amazed by the creativity, positivity, and beautiful vision boards that were created.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the event, whether through donations, attendance, or spreading the word. Your support made all the difference and helped create a memorable and meaningful experience.

We can't wait to see the positive impact our collective visions will have moving forward!
